Over 80% of Australians older than 65 are currently living by themselves. This is an extremely worrying issue for children with elderly or frail parents. A recent study showed that elderly Australians are becoming frail at an alarming rate. To complete the study, 3,000 Australians aged 65 or over living at home answered a FRAIL Questionnaire Screening Tool test. The survey asked questions relating to Fatigue, Resistance, Ambulation Illnesses and Loss of weight (FRAIL).The study proved 38% of the people who participated in the study were already in the early stages of frailty, meaning a simple fall could lead to broken bones, a concussion, or admission to hospital.
