4G Upgrade

PHONE LINE ALARMS ARE AT END OF LIFE

4G ALARM COMMUNICATOR UPGRADE

A 4G alarm communicator keeps your monitored security system talking to our control room as older receivers and phone line style reporting reach end of life.

WHY YOUR ALARM NEEDS A 4G ALARM COMMUNICATOR UPGRADE

Legacy phone line reporting (including NBN phone port) have now reached end of life. If your security system still reports via a phone line it may no longer be able to communicate alarms reliably to our monitoring control room. While these technologies were the best option at the time of installation, you now need to upgrade to a 4G alarm communicator to keep your monitored system fully operational.

WHY SHOULD YOU UPDATE TO 4G NOW?

BEAT THE RUSH

Many monitoring centre receivers are now at end of life and no longer supported. As more systems are upgraded, technician time and 4G communicators will be in higher demand. Booking your upgrade now means a quick, planned installation instead of an urgent fix after your alarm stops reporting.

STRONGER, MORE RELIABLE REPORTING

Alarms that rely on an NBN phone service can lose their ability to report without much warning, especially during power or service interruptions. Upgrading to a 4G alarm communicator gives your system a modern, supported communication path that is designed to work with current monitoring equipment.

AVOID SURPRISES

Waiting until your existing reporting path fails could leave your home or business unmonitored at the worst possible time. Moving to 4G before that happens helps ensure your monitored alarm continues to send events to our control room so your action plan can be followed when it matters.

How Will The Receiver Shutdown Affect Your System?

Your security system uses a communications device to send signals to our monitoring control room when there is an alarm event. Those signals are processed by specialised receivers in the monitoring centre. As these legacy receivers reach end of life and are shut down, older reporting methods will no longer be able to communicate with us.

Your alarm panel may still appear to work normally on site, but if it is using an older reporting path it will not be able to send events to our control room. This means we may not be notified if something happens at your property. Systems that rely on these end of life receivers need to be upgraded to a 4G alarm communicator so they can continue to report reliably.

Rechenberg can Guide You Through Your 4G Upgrade

Rechenberg understands how important it is to keep your family, business and property safe. As older monitoring receivers and phone line style reporting reach end of life, some alarm systems will no longer be able to send signals to our control room during an emergency.

If your security system still relies on an older reporting method, it may appear to work normally on site while quietly losing its ability to communicate with us. The only way to ensure ongoing monitoring is to upgrade to a modern 4G alarm communicator.

Do not wait until a fault or alarm event reveals a problem. Contact Rechenberg today so we can check how your system is currently reporting and schedule a 4G upgrade if needed. Our goal is to make sure your home, business and family remain protected and your monitoring continues to operate as expected.

UPGRADE NOW BEFORE THE  SHUTDOWN – MARCH 2026

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE SHUTDOWN

How does the monitoring receiver shutdown affect my alarm system?

Your alarm sends signals to our monitoring control room, where they are processed by specialised receivers. Some of these older receivers and reporting methods have now reached end of life. If your alarm still relies on one of these, it may no longer be able to send events to us, even though it appears to work normally on site. Upgrading to a 4G alarm communicator ensures your alarm can still talk to our monitoring centre.

My alarm still seems to work. Does that mean it is safe?

Not necessarily. The keypad, sirens and sensors at your property can still operate even if the communications path to the monitoring centre has stopped working. Without a working communications path, we may not receive any alarm events. A 4G communicator upgrade restores a reliable, supported way for your system to send signals to our control room.

What is a 4G alarm communicator?

A 4G alarm communicator is a device that connects your alarm panel to our monitoring centre using secure mobile networks instead of older phone line or legacy dialler technology. In many cases it can be added to your existing alarm panel. When the alarm activates, the communicator sends the event over 4G so our operators can follow your action plan.

How do I know if my system needs an upgrade?

If your alarm is older, plugged into a NBN phone port, or was originally set up with a “dialler” or 3G based reporting, it is likely to be affected by receiver and technology changes. The simplest way to know for sure is to contact Rechenberg. We can check how your alarm is currently reporting and confirm whether a 4G communicator upgrade is required.

Will I need a whole new alarm system?

Often no. Many alarm panels can continue to be used with a new 4G communicator fitted. Where the panel itself is too old or unsupported, we will explain your options and provide a quote for replacing only what is necessary. Our goal is to keep your system monitored and working reliably with the least disruption.

What is involved in upgrading to 4G?

Our technician will attend your property, assess your existing alarm panel, install and program the 4G communicator, then test reporting to the monitoring centre. In most cases the upgrade can be completed in a single visit with minimal downtime.

Why should I upgrade now instead of waiting?

Waiting until a failure occurs can leave your home or business unmonitored at the worst possible time. As more systems are upgraded there is also more demand on technician time and hardware. Upgrading now helps you avoid interruptions, reduces the chance of unpleasant surprises and keeps your monitoring working as expected.
