Home Security During The Festive Season

As the upcoming Christmas Season nears, families all over the state are preparing to leave their homes for the holidays to celebrate. In moments like this, it is vital that residents have a suitable home security system installed to deter any possible break-ins and robberies while they are away from their homes.

The Queensland Police 2016-17 Annual Statistical Review stated that over 73,000 offences of unlawful entry and property damage were reported to the police throughout the year. According to this statistic, this is an increase of 12% from the previous financial year.

Rechenberg Managing Director, Michael Rechenberg, suggests residents make habits of simple security measures, such as checking that doors are securely locked when leaving the house. He also recommends the installation of security systems, in particular, a monitored alarm system or CCTV.

“These monitored alarm systems can detect an intruder that has broken into your home,” he said.

“This is then reported to the control room, who then call your specified emergency contacts, which may include patrols or the police. CCTV gives you the peace of mind of being able to view your home from anywhere in the world from your smart device.

“We have found over the years that these methods are the most effective way to reduce the possibility of break-ins, and certainly minimise any possible losses if a break-in were to occur.”
